Abstract
CDMA systems exhibit peculiarities that render system planning a task quite distinct from that used in other access technologies. The planning methodologies used today are either complex, using parameters that are not realistic, or simplistic, yielding poor results. This article presents a simple and easy-to-use planning method for determining the number of soft handoff channels. This planning method considers soft handoff blocking and system interference as input parameters.
