Following the worldwide trend of using cards in public telephones, Brazil has adopted the inductive system, a low cost technology, developed to operate under the particular characteristics of the Brazilian society. This paper presents the incentives for the development of an inductive card based public telephony system and the technology related to this development. The introduction of this system in Brazil and its consequences are also described.Downloads
